Like pretty much every woman, I love getting my nails done. Sometimes I just NEED to have my cuticles pushed back, you know? Yeah, you know.
Of course, there are a few pain points that come along with getting your nails done, none of which I really need to explain. We’ve experienced them all. And guess what? I’ve found a place that solves all of them.
Ezza Nails is a brand-new nail salon in Chicago (Streeterville/River North) changing the mani game. One visit to their space and I was hooked. Here’s why:
It’s founded by women. Ale and Kim, the creators of Ezza Nails, are two Chicago Booth students and grads (respectively) who recognized a gap in the space and worked their tails off to tackle it. Ale even went to nail school herself so she could learn all the ins and outs of nail salons! These two inspiring women spent months learning everything they could, and they used data for every decision they made, from the look of the space to the quick-drying top coat they chose.
One thing I love about their vision is that they do not see manicures as a frivolous thing–they see them as a grooming necessity… and I couldn’t agree more! They want women to feel tough as nails. Read more about their story here.
It’s cashless. You book your appointment online, pay online, AND your tip is included. No fumbling for your credit card before getting your nails painted!
You can pick your polish in advance. This is HUGE for me. One of the things I hate about getting my nails done is the pressure of picking a color–I always feel like I’m holding people up when I’m indecisive! With Ezza, you can pick your nail color in advance (up to 4x) and they have your nail polish waiting for you when you get there.
If you don’t pick online, they have these amazing boards with every single nail color on them so you can “try on” each color before picking. These boards were hand made by Ale and Kim, which is even more impressive!
Another cool thing is that all their colors are available in both regular and no-chip polish. So you won’t fall in love with a color only to find out it’s only available as one of the other! GENIUS.
There are membership options. This is actually a pretty good deal and I’m strongly considering signing up soon. I love that they have the Hybrid membership too, because sometimes I want no-chip and sometimes I don’t!
Ezza Nails Chicago is made for professionals. They know how busy we all are, and they have 7am appointments to prove it.
They went out of their way to make the space feel welcoming. From the coffee table books about strong women, to the Cowshed Spa lotion, La Croix, and candy bowls, Ezza Nails Chicago has made every effort to make the space feel like the loveliest living room ever.
Lastly, they are feminists and proud of it. There are convenient lockers that share the names of strong women from our history. There are huge pictures of women doing strong things on the walls. And their tagline is “tough as nails.” It would be a challenge not to feel empowered after a mani session at Ezza!
